Project Description

Hopkins School has established a 10-year plan to renovate the primary buildings throughout the District. The renovations included mechanical, plumbing, electrical and technology upgrades. The engineering completed focused on updating (or replacing) existing equipment to meet today’s standards and with the overall goal of reducing energy and maintenance costs. Upgraded facilities to date include Alice Smith Elementary, Eisenhower Elementary, Glen Lake Elementary, West Junior High, and Hopkins High School and Eisenhower Community Center. Notable system features and upgrades include:

  • Dedicated Outdoor Air Systems (DOAS) with Energy Recovery Wheels
  • Dehumidification
  • Displacement Ventilation Units
    • Quiet Operation
    • Direct Delivery of outdoor air to occupants
  • Fabric ductwork (gym):
    • Durable – No denting from gym equipment or students
    • Washable and resists dust collection
    • Integral diffusers and balancing devices
  • Building Automation Controls
  • Electrical Service Upgrades
  • Electrical Lighting upgrades
  • Occupancy sensors for lighting and ventilation control of spaces
  • Daylight harvesting of natural lighting to reduce electrical consumption
  • High-efficiency motors with variable frequency drives
  • Full cut-off optics on exterior lighting to reduce light pollution
  • Voice/Data communications cabling
